Marquee is a single line of sound along the edge of your screen. It sits above the desktop icons and under everything else, so it is there while you work and gone the moment you stop paying attention to it. What it draws is a real frequency analysis of the audio actually leaving your speakers — bass on the left, treble on the right — not a level meter smeared into a shape. It follows whatever is making sound: a player, a browser tab, a game. Nothing is recorded and no microphone is involved; it reads the output mix only. Centred over the strip, a small panel names what is playing — the track, the artist, the album art and a hairline that fills as it runs — with play, pause, skip and back that work from the desktop without raising a window or taking focus from what you are doing. A title too long for the panel scrolls gently rather than trailing off. Drag the panel anywhere you like and it stays there. When everything stops the whole thing fades out rather than sitting there as a dead line, and comes back the moment something plays. Only the panel takes the mouse: the strip itself is click-through, so the desktop and taskbar underneath behave exactly as if it weren't there.
