CadenceA desktop overlay for Windows 10 and 11Pro

Cadence is type on your wallpaper and nothing else — no frame, no panel, no window. The hour in large, light numerals, the day and date beneath it, and below that whatever is playing: the album art, the title, the artist, and a thin line filling as the track runs. The transport controls are real. Play, pause, skip and go back from your desktop, without raising a window and without taking focus from what you are doing. It reads the same media session Windows itself uses, so it follows whatever you are actually playing rather than one particular app. Set the ink to follow the album art and the whole thing shifts colour with the record. Every block can be dragged where you want it and stays there.

What it does

  • A large, light clock with the day and date, in your system's own 12- or 24-hour format
  • Now playing from the Windows media session — album art, title, artist and a progress line
  • A live spectrum of what your speakers are actually playing, not a decoration that moves with the volume
  • Working transport controls: play, pause, next and previous, without stealing focus
  • Ink that can follow the album art, so the type shifts colour with what you're playing
  • A quiet line of CPU, memory and network beneath it, if you want it
  • No frame and no plate — it sits on the wallpaper you already chose
  • Drag any block where you like; it stays put
  • Reads and controls playback only — it never touches a file or a setting

Where it runs

Live wallpaper

Painted behind your desktop icons, in place of a static background.

Overlay

A transparent layer above your icons and below your windows. It only takes the mouse where it actually draws, so everything underneath stays clickable.
