Battery Power Widget

System

Battery Power answers the question you actually have — how long have I got — and leaves the percentage as a footnote, because Windows already puts one in the tray. There is no battery glyph: the level is a rail across the whole strip, quartered like a fuel gauge, so you can read it without reading a number. At rest it is monochrome. Colour only arrives when something is happening or something is wrong: a charge current runs along the rail while the machine is charging, so you can tell charging from merely plugged in across a room, and the rail turns to ember and then to red as the reading gets serious. Click it for battery health, capacity against design capacity, chemistry and voltage — the figures Windows buries — and where your machine won't report one, it says so instead of inventing it.
