Keep AwakeA taskbar widget for Windows 10 and 11Free
The taskbar counterpart to Caffeine, with the failure mode designed out. Keeping a machine awake is almost always temporary — a long render, a download, a presentation — but the switch that starts it has no idea when you’re finished, so it stays on for days and you find out when the battery is flat. This one counts down and releases the machine by itself. It is drawn as a ring rather than a bar, because a bar measures a quantity and this is measuring a deadline: the arc empties the way a kitchen timer does, so you can read how long is left without reading anything. Click the strip for the time remaining, the clock time it ends, and a row of lengths from thirty minutes to no limit at all.
Where it runs
What it does
- Click the strip for the flyout — keep awake, let it sleep, or pick a length
- Counts down and releases the machine itself — the mistake it exists to prevent
- A ring that empties rather than a bar that fills, because this is a deadline
- 30m, 1h, 2h, 4h or no limit, each starting a run the moment you pick it
- Shows the exact clock time it ends, not just the time remaining
- The deadline survives a widget reload, so nothing gets left pinned awake
- Agrees with the app’s own caffeine state rather than keeping a second one
- Follows the taskbar’s own colour, and re-matches when the theme changes
What you can change
- Turn itself off after
